EM: Local event file exceeded max size limit - truncating file

I have hp san 4400

last three months Management server log contains same messages.

MESSAGE:              EM: Local event file exceeded max size limit - truncating file

What is that .Is any thing critical.?

How can we resolve the problem.

Thanks for advanced.

Thanks

Hi, how after are these showing up?

In any case, this means that your log file is filling up and because it can only have so many events it truncates it (removes the older entries).

I'm unsure but I believe the log this is refering to is the 'controller event log' (should be next to where you select "management server log".

Have a look in there, are you seeing many events of the same type or something like that?

That event itself is not critical - just an indication of a "rollover" to a new file. This prevents the situation of a single, laaarge logfile.

Re: EM: Local event file exceeded max size limit - truncating file

True, having this message with long intervals is not a worry, many logs I saw had never been truncated since the installation, for years (usually the EVA3k/5k).

But it could indirectly point to something else that is critical.
