Importance of "Reserved Volume" in XP Business copy.

Folks,

 

We are new to replication, thus looking for a satisfactory answer on the importance of making S-Vol Reserved in BC. Why do we set reserve attribute reserves (sets aside) a volume so that it can be used as a BC S-VOL. We know, The disk array will reject all write operations to reserved volumes; but thats it? or we have some good technical explainations....
