NPIV enable - 5300B

My Switch ports are enabled with NPIV Enabled.

Firmware : v6.4.0b

Port 03 (enabled with NPIV)
Port 23 (enabled with NPIV)

Iam not able to see the NPIV public in port03.But I am able to see the NPIV public in port23.

What does the attribute mean "VC Link Init OFF" - portcfgshow 03

Re: NPIV enable - 5300B

VC must be something related to Long distance connections, If you dont have any Single Mode SFP's installed on your switch or one installed on your port 23, then this can clarify,

Can you share a supportshow capture?

Re: NPIV enable - 5300B

VC Link Init is not configured on any ports.

Both port03 and 23 looks good to me in the switcshow.

23 23 014800 id N8 Online FC F-Port 1 N Port + 5 NPIV public

3 3 013900 id N8 Online FC F-Port 1 N Port + 5 NPIV public

looks pretty good to me? I mean npiv public is there on port 03?
lots of stuff in nsshow and portshow 3

is the problem fixed now?

Re: NPIV enable - 5300B

VC Link Init is not configured on any ports.

My Query: What does VC Link Init is not configured on any ports? What has to be done to configure it.

lots of stuff in nsshow and portshow 3

My Query: Is it good ?

Iam able to see all the wwn numbers in the port when I use portshow.

Re: NPIV enable - 5300B

Why do you want to configure VC Link???

Yes, it looks good.

If you can see all your wwns that means to me that it's working - do you agree?

Re: NPIV enable - 5300B

Do I need to have a ACCESS Gateway? I am told by Brocade Engineer to have a AG.

my setup has only 2 fabric 1 switch each connected to the array & servers (Hp c7000 Blade Chassie)

Do I need to have a Access Gateway?

Re: NPIV enable - 5300B

No you do not.

Can you even have AG in a one-switch fabric?

The whole point (as far as I understood it) is to reduce the amount of used domain ids. If you only have one switch you can't go lower than one..

Maybe there are other benefits that I don't know about.
