Password Recovery for Storageworks 2312I G2 ISCSI SAN

So it would seem that my coworker never documented the password he set on the controllers of the above model SAN, the one that contains all of the client's core VM's. If I can find the console cable and connect to the CLI, can anyone tell me what I have to do to reset the 'manage' or root password?

TIA

Michael

Did you try the "admin" account?

should be admin! (or !admin)..

I remember there being an admin account built into it.

If those accounts/passwords don't work, I believe the MSA 2000 G2 does not require a user name for the serial port (p2000 G3 do/did).

CLI Reference guide:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual〈=en&cc=us&docIndexId=64179&taskId=101&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=3971510

page 104.

set password manage

should do it though.

don't use any weird characters :)

If this account was not changed, try

user admin
password !admin

Hope this helps!

Gentlemen,

Thanks so much for the advice. Unfortunately my coworker is a security-minded sort of chap and he most definitely changed all of the default passwords for the above-referenced accounts. I've tried all of the suggested username/passwords via SSH and still no joy. Further, the client seems to have lost the console cable, so I'm working on finding a replacement. Never easy is it?

I hope to be consoling into the SAN next Tuesday...updates as warranted!
