(SOM) Support Tip: SOM Reporter (OBR) Pre-check Tool available on HPE Live Network

Hello SOM/SE Community,

As you know, SOM Reporter is actually Operations Bridger Reporter (OBR) 10.00.

On the HPE Live Network, there is an HPE OBR Installation Pre-check Tool that is available.  The HPE OBR Installation Pre-check tool enables offline verification of necessary pre-requisites prior to installing OBR 10.

This tool has been updated multiple times since it's original release.   The latest release is version 10.00.007 that was made available on March 9th, 2016.

The tool is supported on Windows and Linux OS types.

The tool checks the following:

  1. OS Version
  2. OBR installed
  3. RC installed
  4. Media Directory Permissions
  5. Application Directory Permissions
  6. missing libraries (including environment-modules)
  7. Installer Files present in /tmp.
    • Files will not be removed and it will report if files present. It is done intentionally so that it didn’t remove any files if this script is executed by mistake on already installed OBR system.
  8. Bash shell availability
  9. Bash shell as default when useradd is executed for creating new users
  10. Bash shellshock security
  11. postgres alias check for mv command.
  12. disk space
  13. memory
  14. kernel parameters
  15. Firewall
  16. ports availability
  17. loc  locale

Good Luck with your environments.  Another Support Tip will be provided next week.

Regards,

Mark

Minor add-on for this topic,

even though OBR Team supports certain OBR components running on Windows (PMDB and BO),  SOM team currently supports only the complete OBR installation on a single RedHat Linux box.
