Storage Essentials soft quota management feature

[ Edited ]

We are in the process of purchasing SE and were wondering if SE can be used to manage network drive quotas.
The quick specs states:
"Soft Quota management feature allow proactive monitoring of consumption levels and improve the ability to accurately forecast new capital investments in storage infrastructure."

This is for capacity monitoring only, not for setting actual quotas, correct?
thanks,
Harry

Re: Storage Essentials soft quota management feature

HPSE Soft Quota Management works out well for user, policy, event mgt. You get alerts triggered on setting a threshold value for user once u configure it. Mostly it is for capacity monitoring.

If your SAN enviroment is not stable, I recommed to move safe & Slow in implementing HPSE.

Please provide me your SAN Environment.. the storage arrays and fc switches you have.. the topology currently you have..

Re: Storage Essentials soft quota management feature

I think you answered my question. Soft quotas are for alerts and monitoring. Quotas can't be set with SE...
