Command View EVA, add host, type for polyserve
and i like to add a disk larger than 2 TB to My HP Clustered gateway e.g. matrix polyserve CIFS server.
The host type in Command View is Windows. Windows can only use disks up to 2 TB.
Can anyone advise or point me to some documentation if its allowed to change the host type, and to which type, to get the disk over 2 Tb
Thanks in advance

Re: Command View EVA, add host, type for polyserve
till now it is a EVA firmware limitation (1LUN max=2TB) but it can be done e.g. via the LVM (VG from multiple smaller VDISKs) on the host side if it is Linux...

Re: Command View EVA, add host, type for polyserve
HP Polyserve Matrix server can be implemented on Windows/Linux. Then the host type depends on the platform to which it is installed ...

Re: Command View EVA, add host, type for polyserve
The question is how strapped are you with needing a LUN larger than 2TB vs. having a second LUN.
Personally, I am not sure if I would so such a thing... even on a linux/unix system.
I am sure the technology has advanced some since we used to do this on NT4 back in the day. ;o)

Re: Command View EVA, add host, type for polyserve
You must use Windows host mode in the EVA.
Use the Polyserve volume manager to build a bigger volume containing several virtual disks from your EVA.

Re: Command View EVA, add host, type for polyserve
2T is usually a lun limitation of the OS.
Polyserve can use any lun the OS can see across all of the nodes.
Polyserve allows you to stripe a volume or put multiple luns together to form a volume > 2T.
