How to use SSSU (with VMS)
Hello All !
This is my first post :-)
We have a EVA8000 connected to 2 Itanium rx2620
running Open VMS.
We want to create a snapshot from a vdisk of the 2nd server and present this to the 1st server.
We try to this with SSSU(version 5) over RSH !
At this time we are able to create snapshots automaticly but can't find to do all things we need in the docu. (add snapshot APS_DEVTEST vdisk="\Virtual Disks\BPS\BPS_DEV\ACTIVE" ALLOCATION_POLICY=demand OS_UNIT_ID=3)
1. How to present this snapshot to a host ?
2. How to unpresent a snapshot from host ?
3. How to delete a snapshot ?
Did someone have an example for this ?
thx
*TOM*

Re: How to use SSSU (with VMS)
Welcome, Tom.
I can't test it right now, but from memory and a peek into the SSSU manual I'd try:
1: ADD LUN
2: DELETE LUN
3: DELETE VDISK

Re: How to use SSSU (with VMS)
Thx Uwe !
This helps us to find a possible way.
Here the example we do it:
APS is Server1 (productive)
BPS is Server2 (test - development)
And we do this because we only make
a backup from the Server1
We mount the snapshot from Server2 at the
Server1 before starting the backup job
delete LUN \Hosts\APS\3
delete VDISK "\Virtual Disks\BPS\BPS_DEV\APS_DEV"
add snapshot APS_DEV vdisk="\Virtual Disks\BPS\BPS_DEV\ACTIVE" ALLOCATION_POLICY=demand OS_UNIT_ID=3
add LUN 3 vdisk="\Virtual Disks\BPS\BPS_DEV\APS_DEV" HOST="\Hosts\APS"
