SQL 2008 R2 support

Can we please get a firm YES with a target date or NO so we can find a different product on Polyserve supporting SQL 2008 R2? The next version of SQL Server past R2 is already in CTP, and my enterprise will have to move off Polyserve to a new solution this year if we don't get an answer on this by end of Q1 2011.
This is critically important to both our enterprise operations and disaster recovery planning, and we have to get a firm yes/no answer from HP and a target date so we can plan now for CY 2011 and 2012.

Robert, any luck? I just got confirmation back from HP, the tech talked with "upper managment" and they say there is not going to be a version that supports SQL 2008 R2. Tech says he will call me back later.

Re: SQL 2008 R2 support

Below is the responses I got from HP:

"After talking to Bob Dutton on our L2 team who is in contact with Polyserve engineering. There are no plans to support SQL 2008 R2 on Polyserve.

There is no code being written to include it."

"...there has been no updates as to where Polyserve is going. At one point we heard there was another product on the horizon but no updates on that either. They have been telling us there was going to be an official announcement as to where the product is going but it has not come out yet. We are still waiting ourselves for more official announcements"

I posted the response from HP, I thought I had already done that. Posting this in case my forum message is getting removed.

Time to look for different high availability solutions.

Agreed - we were sent a Confidentiality Agreeement to sign before we would be told the future of the product we've licensed for the past 18 months - no good can be made of such a requirement.

Re: SQL 2008 R2 support

Early in March we had a conference call with an HP sales rep and a storage specialist. No confidentiality / non-disclosure required. PolyServe is on the "end of life" path. Additional licenses can be purchased through 6/30/2011. The product will be supported "for 3 years", but I don't remember where that put the end date. They e-mailed me a letter they thought was being sent to all customers, but I don't know where I filed it. The only follow-on product plan is some collaboration with Microsoft implementing Hypervisor.

Re: SQL 2008 R2 support

Yes. I have had conference calls in which HP finally and reluctantly participated. We were told that the product was "unofficially" in EOL. Whatever that means. They essentially told us that it was likely that Polyserve would no longer be developed, but a final decision had not been made. This was over 2 months ago. Of course on the call, Polyserve representatives promised to get back with us as to when an official decision had been made... but we have nto heard anything from them. The contact we were working with has since dropped off existence (email address no longer works).
Long story short, there was not very much concrete information in the conference call. I left with t5he impression they were burying the product, but did not want to say it in those words... for fear of strong response from customers (like us) heavily invested in the product. I got the feeling they were just telling us what we hoped to hear with the "maybe it will live on" talk.

Regardless what HP says at this point... it's fairly obvious this is a dead product. No way a large compnay can plan for the future with any confidence in their purchase given the incompetent handling of the situation by HP.

We are currently exploring other options.. including Sanbolic Melio and others.

Re: SQL 2008 R2 support

Thanks Jason - we've been looking at Sanbolic as well - if anyone has space on a forum to discuss alternates off the HP site (no matter how ironic discussing here would be it would not be very professional...) please post a link to continue the discussion of viable replacement products?

Thanks!
