sssu & snapshot

we have eva 3k disk array . Disks are mounted on linux system (expecially for Database use ) I'd like perform backup of Database using snapshot performing the following procedure:
1)close DB
2)create snapshot whit sssu utility
3)open DB
4)perform backup of snapshot with DP 5.5
I have some questions:
1)my DB are on linux system but i want present snapshot to hp-UX system. Is it possible?
2)to create snapshot i want to use this procedure:
a)add snapshot ...(using sssu)
b)add lun ...(using sssu)
c)rescan ?
d)mount ?
Is it correct?
Thanks

Re: sssu & snapshot

Wanda,
on you first list, I would flush/'sync' the file system after (1) close DB.

Of course you can present the snapshot to another operating system. The EVA presents just blocks of data and does not know what a file system is.

The question is whether you can find a file system implementation that is understood by both, Linux and HP-UX. That is not exactly my area of expertise, so I hope others tune in with their knowledge.
