1200s info needed

Am thinking of buying the 1200s 320gb model and replacing the 80gb drives with 320gb drives. From other posts I have read, it seems that this can be done by replacing drives 1 and 3 first, then drives 0 and 1. Hopefully this should not be a problem.

Apart from this, how noisy is this unit? It is for use in the home.

I also want to install the Slimserver application so that I can use the device as an mp3 server. This is basically just a 3rd party application that runs as a service. Is this likely to work OK?

Thanks

Re: 1200s info needed

Hi

I would rather get pricing on the other models first, option and part numbers given below.

NAS 1200s Model 320 GB
349037-B21
350589-001

NAS 1200s Model 640 GB
349038-B21
350590-001

NAS 1200s Model 1 TB
349039-B21
350591-001

Reason for this is that your warranty will be affected by you placing bigger drives in. If one fails HP will not repair the bigger drive for you.

These units were made with specific size drives for maximum redandancy and to cater for support needs.

Rather get the bigger model.
