Adding hard drives to SureStore HD Server 4000

We have a HP SureStore HD Server 4000 (model J3290A).

Where can we find a specification of compatible hard drives so as to permit expansion for the three open bays?

We would appreciate any tips you might have to locating hard drives for the J3290A.

Thanks in advance,

pdp

Re: Adding hard drives to SureStore HD Server 4000

Hi Phil,

This page contains some specifications for the SureStore Server 4000:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=lpg60100&locale=en_US&prodSeriesId=64022&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesName=hp+surestore+hd+server+4000&docId=41123

Also, you can check parts availability by calling HP Parts Direct at 800-227-8164.

Re: Adding hard drives to SureStore HD Server 4000

I had checked the specifications and parts
listing before making my original posting
to this discussion forum. It was through
this process that I learned that these parts
have been discontinued. I now realize that I
should have made this clear in my original
message.

What I meant to ask was ...

What generic (non-HP proprietary part number)
hard drive specification should I be looking
for when attempting to add additional drives
for the HP SureStore HD Server 4000?

I currently have three 4GB units in the top
bays so I am looking to fill out some more
drives in the three open bays.

I would REALLY LIKE to find something larger
than 4GB if such an option exists.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Adding hard drives to SureStore HD Server 4000

The hard drive specifications for the H-P
SureStore HD Server 4000 (model J3290A) do
not sufficiently describe the type of
compatible hard drives that will work in
this unit. The HP part numbers cited in
the specifications document have all been
discontinued. Therefore, we must find a
third-party replacement.

We would greatly appreciate the efforts of
one of the esteemed members of this forum
to describe the specifications so that we
can find another source!

Thanks in adbvance,
