AiO 400 & Volume Shadow Copy

On our StorageWorks 400, we have Volume Shadow Copy enabled. It is set to about 67 GB Storage of which about 39 GB is in use.

When I use a client to view the Previous Versions, the Disk Queue Read Length on the server spikes for up to 5 minutes, during which time the client does not see any activity.

The affected partition is approximately 660 GB in size, and has 271 GB available free space.

The server only has 1 GB of RAM. I have a second server with a similar disk size, but has 3 GB of RAM and I don't have this performance problem.

I'm thinking it's just a hardware limitation, but has anyone heard of this?
