Automated Storage Manager (ASM) on x1600 storageworks

hi,

 

i need help to understand one thing:

 

1. after purchase a x1600 storage, i enter ACU (array configuration utility) and select raid 60 as my raid level. Done..

 

2. then when i use ASM software, try to create a LUN it ask again what raid level i want and things such as how many disks to be used, and stripe size.

 

what does this mean? i can even choose raid-5 or any raid level at this stage but then in ACU it is stated raid 60.

 

can anyone help me to understand this?

can anyone help? does this mean software raid on top of hardware raid? how should we treat it?
