Cannot save Oracle files to NAS 1000s
I am not able to save any Oracle 8 (.ora) files to my HP StorageWorks 1000s. (640Gb) I have two of the these devices and experimented on each but both suffer the same issue. I have been lead to believe it is a common problem but nowhere does it document a solution. I have no other issues with any other files

Re: Cannot save Oracle files to NAS 1000s
What do you mean if you say 'save'? Do you try to copy them over (for backup reasons) or do you try to run your database from a file share? Does Oracle really support the latter?

Re: Cannot save Oracle files to NAS 1000s
Thanks, it's really both, (copying and saving) Firstly we want to run .ora files from the NAS box so they're not on the server for redundancy and also speed.
We have also tried to copy the .ora file(s) directly to the NAS box for backup both manually and through automatic scripts but neither work, (session times out or denied message). We have several other NAS boxes of different makes and it works on all of those. I know it's not a permissions problem too.
Thanks for your help
