DL380 G5 with P400 - RAID-1

Hi folks,

I've been doing some web search and I'm still a bit stuck so would like to ask someone to give me a hint..

I've got a DL380 G5 with P400 controller currently with eight 146GB SAS drives. I would like to add RAID1 but Array configuration utility doesn't show me RAID-1 option it only shows RAID-0 RAID-1+0 RAID-5 and RAID-6.

Is there any way to configure RAID-1 since this is the requirement for our Oracle server setup. Please help me out.
Thanks

The SmartArray tools do not always use proper RAID terminology - you should be able to set up a true RAID-1 by configure a "RAID-1+0" with two disk drives.

If RAID 1+0 is same as RAID 1 then how do I configure RAID 1+0 ?

using ACU (array configuration utility)
or directly at boot time hitting key to enter in setup of P400

Re: DL380 G5 with P400 - RAID-1

I did try with both the options you mentioned i.e. using ACU (array configuration utility)or directly at boot time hitting key to enter in setup of P400

But it gives me the following option

RAID 0 RAID 1+0 RAID 5 and RAID 6

My point is thta RAID 1 is missing in both the utility you mentioned,
RAID 1 and RAID 1+0 arn't the same.

So How do I create RAID 1?

I need to configure four array for installing Oracle server

1- RAID 1
2- RAID 1
3- RAID 1+0
4- RAID 1

Re: DL380 G5 with P400 - RAID-1

It does not help to argue that they are not the same - we know that.

Have you at least tried to configure a "RAID-1+0" with two disk drives?

so what is the problem ?
did you successfully configured raid0+1 with 2 disks on P400 ?

Re: DL380 G5 with P400 - RAID-1

My problem is that I can not create RAID 1
since ther is no option to choose RAID 1

Re: DL380 G5 with P400 - RAID-1

Are you trying to test our patience?

We've told you multiple times now to choose "RAID-1+0" instead of "RAID-1"...
