HP 3-in-1 NAS Docking Station

The problem is that when i disconnected an external HD an i connected to a PC with vista, the HDD does not recognised from vista and when i connected back to NAS, NAS recognised the HDD as a new drive to format. All my data is unavailable. What can i do for this? The brob;em i think is with the NAS File System. I had not checked the FAT32 file system to format, because i want NTFS. Thanks.

I think this is the answer:
If you use an external disk and want to use it directly on a PC later, you MUST format it as FAT32. Otherwise, the NAS will format it as a RiserFS filesystem used internally in the NAS and you won't be able to use it anywhere else.
