HP NAS 3-in-1 - Disconnects during backup

My NAS 3-in-1 docking station systematically disconnects when I attempt to either backup data to it or simply download files from a portable hard drive. It then shows an error screen when you try and go back in to the mapped drive and access data on it. The error message is:

"An error occurred while reconnecting Z: to \\HPNAS\Public_Share

Microsoft Windows Network : The local device name is already in use.

This connection has not been restored"

To get the connection back I need to go through the hard reset procedure.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and found a solution to this problem?

I've got the same problem. I'd like to backup some files and the whole HD with Backup MyPC. Did you find a solution?

Rodger , why use backup my pc , just push backup button , and follow the pages , it lets you backup whole drive , files whatever . no need for 3rd party software

The problem was the hard drive was faulty. Solution was to get HP to replace the entire device for a new one. This now works fine.
