Installing ACT CRM software with SQL on HP 6730S

I have a new HP 6730S laptop on which I am trying to install the ACT CRM software v11 produced by Sage. This laptop is running Windows Vista business and the MS Office 2007 professional suite.

I have successfully installed this software which uses a SQL databse on other machines including another HP laptop. When I try to run the install on this laptop it is failing and asking me for an "sa password".

This seems to me to be related to the instance of the SQL server software it is trying to install but I am not sure.

I have contacted both Sage who provide the ACT software and HP technical support without getting any clear answer to what is causing this.

Has anyone else experienced an issue with this?

remove all others

ensure registry backups
