ML 350G4 Onboard SCSI Problem

Problem is that when we connect the tape streamer to one of the onboard SCSI controllers, the initialisation of the onboard SCSI controller takes very long and the tape streamer isn't detected.
Is it true the onboard SCSI controllers can not interact with other devices like tape streamers (DAT24)?

dat 24 is a narrow SE device,
this mean
-that the electrical interface is SE vs LVD, this is compatible but may limit the bus performance
-and Narrow vs Wide is the bus width, 8 bits for narrow and 16 for wide.
Important is that when you connect a narrow device on a wide bus, you need to have all the 16 bits terminated, so you need to have a wide terminator, and a wide>narrow converter.
Especialy the terminator is critical with this configuration.

I would suggest to go for a supported tape drive DAT40/DAT72

We had a similar problem with an internal LTO device, On initial cold boot it was fine but when we rebooted it took ages to boot up and the device was not detected. We found a problem with the SCSI cable and once replace al was OK.
