MSA20 - Maximum Logical Drive Size / Growing Array

Hi,

We've just got an MSA20 attached to a DL380 Storage server.

A couple of things causing irritation so far:

1) The maximum logical drive size it lets me have is 2TB. Is there a way around this as NTFS supports much more.

2) If I add drives can I grow the array or am I limited to creating a new one each time drives are added?

Cheers,

Lee.

Re: MSA20 - Maximum Logical Drive Size / Growing Array

1) That is a limit in the SCSI protocol - 2^32 blocks (512 bytes/block) is 2 TeraBytes. You need to use a volume manager to combine multiple logical drives.

2) The MSA20 contains an embedded SmartArray controller. I have not tried it myself, but I am fairly sure it allows extension/expansion.

Hi,

I thought extension would be possible but I can't find any way to do it in HP ACU utility. I have seen references to this previously though.

Cheers,

Lee.
