NAS 1200s with Linux client ?
Hi... novice question here.
Does the NFS service on NAS 1200s means A linux client would be able to access share folder on the NAS as if it's a unix server ?

Re: NAS 1200s with Linux client ?
Yes, it does. NFS is the file sharing service that UNIX servers use.
You'll want to read the administration guide in detail regarding setting up NFS shares. There are a number of very important configuration steps you need to follow to get user permissions translating properly, etc.

Re: NAS 1200s with Linux client ?
Would it degrade the server performance if I activate this service ?

Re: NAS 1200s with Linux client ?
Hi Paulius
The process required for this sharing option does not use big block size allocation to memory so resources should not be a worry at all. Test pilot by enabling on a non production server first and you will see.
Regards
Andre
