NAS1000s "fail to boot from all devices" "system hangs!"

I have a second hand HP Storage Works NAS1000s running Win2K that will not boot. I get a message "fail to boot from all devices...system hangs!" What procedures should I follow to recover from this failure before I use the Quick Restore DVD? I would not like to lose all of my data, if possible.
