NAS1200 with Windows 2003 SP1 problem
I have a NAS1200 1TB as a file server at my office. The server has a Windows 2003 Storage Server edition. I have installed Service Release 5.5 on that server about three months ago.
The problem is that today the server just dissapeared from the network and following errors were in the System Log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 333
Date: 10.11.2005
Time: 12:42:01
User: N/A
Computer: BLUE
Description:
An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the Registry.
and
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Srv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2019
Date: 10.11.2005
Time: 12:41:37
User: N/A
Computer: BLUE
Description:
The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty.
Please help!
Regards,
Jarkko

Re: NAS1200 with Windows 2003 SP1 problem
This problem occured in the middle of the day durin normal use and load. First some users complained that they cannot access file shares, and then I couldn't log on the server with Terminal Services.
Rebooting the server helped to get things working again.
I rebooted the server last time exactly 1 month ago.
I think that the problem may be in there:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;898060
but I'm not sure that I can install this patch on HP NAS.

Re: NAS1200 with Windows 2003 SP1 problem
At first the server would just hang, now at least it BSODs and reboots having fiddled the memory management parameters in the registry as per the microsoft recommendations.
The only other thing of note the server is running is MDaemon's mail server software.
