SA 5i in NAS b2000 v2 enough to power array in MSA 30?
Hi,
We have a NAS b2000 v2 which comes with integrated Smart Array 5i. It's the only SA controller in b2000 that has now two arrays (RAID 1: drive 0 & 1) and (RAID 5: drive 2 to 5).
Recently, we connected an MSA 30 DB to the external connector of the 5i and configure third array - RAID 5 (300GB x 4 HDs) in MSA 30. However, I have some concern that at later stage when we fully populate the MSA 30 with HDs, the SA 5i might not be enough to power the 3 arrays especially that by that time, MSA will have 14 x 300GBs.
As a test, I copied 3 GIGs of file to the third array and open some files and I find no delay.
OS is Windows Powered OS (which is W2K Adv. Server) but we'll be upgrading it to 2003 sooner.
What's your recommendation?
Please share your expertise.
Thanks,
Archie
