Samsung 883 DCT 3.84TB In MSA2050
Has anybody ever tried to install Samsung 883 3.84 TB drives into an HP MSA2050 San?
Do you know if this is compatible?

Re: Samsung 883 DCT 3.84TB In MSA2050
@Ger-IT : HPE does not recommend using Non-HPE Drives on their Arrays. Incase if you do buy ( incase if you haven't ) or you have already bought one and it does work somehow, it won't be covered under contract/warranty and there is a good chance of the drive/s not getting detected intermittently etc - causing data loss situation. Best would be to procure a HPE drive which is certified and compatible with the MSA2050 Arrays. You can refer to the drive section on the "MSA 2050 Spare parts" link.

Re: Samsung 883 DCT 3.84TB In MSA2050
There are certain SKU/Product numbers of the hard drives that are tested and compatible with MSA 2050 enclosures. From a technical standpoint, all the hard drives and the drive enclosure have their own firmware that makes them compatible.
Please refer “Select Your Drives” section on page 18 from the technical paper link:
https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=a00008276enw
Thus, the Samsung drive that is mentioned in the post is not listed, which means it was never tested and not compatible to work drive enclosure.

Re: Samsung 883 DCT 3.84TB In MSA2050
Do you have exact model number of the Samsung drive which you want to use?
We are seeing some Samsung SSD drives that are not responding after a power failure. A firmware fix is being developed to address this issue.
Affected models
MO0400JFFCFHPE MSA 400GB 12G SAS MIXED USE SSD
MO0800JFFCHHPE MSA 800GB 12G SAS MIXED USE SSD
MO1600JFFCKHPE MSA 1.6TB 12G SAS MIXED USE SSD
MO3200JFFCLHPE MSA 3.2TB 12G SAS MIXED USE SSD
Please refer the below Customer Advisory to get more details,

Hope this helps!
