Re: configure disk in netapp
do you have support for the netapp?
You should try the netapp site:
http://www.netapp-web.com
http://www.netapp.com/us/
Also - are you using netapp with nfs?
For nfs-mounted directories you only have to add the disk and expand the VG at the netapp.
No sense to do anything at the HP server.
Netapp has its own os where you have to expand VG. Also you have to check the firmware of the disks - if the new disk has a newer firmware you have to increase it at the old disks too.
Contact the Netapp hotline - i've never had problems there to get help.

Re: configure disk in netapp
Generally the steps are as follows :
- Create a additional LUN's. To do that, you will need sufficient space in a volume.
How you organize your LUN's in volumes is purely your choice.
- Lookup the initiator group name for you server. The LUN's that are already assigned to your system will show this initiator group name. Assign these new LUN's to your server and give them a unique LUN ID. This uniqueness is only for LUN's that are assigned to the same server.
- Run ioscan on your server and see what disks appear. If you see multiple new disks while you created only 1 new LUN, all these new disks are alternate paths to the same LUN.

Re: configure disk in netapp
you can register at www.netapp.com. There are very good tech docs there:
e.g the
Ontap 7.2 storage management guide:
http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/ontap/rel7261_vs/pdfs/ontap/smg.pdf
or
Ontap 7.3 storage management guide:
