upgrade nasb3000 to sp4

Can someone tell me if I can upgrade a NASb3000 running windows 2000 powered sp2 to sp4? Do I have to upgrade securepath first? What will break if I upgrade?

Can someone tell me if I can upgrade a NASb3000 running windows 2000 powered sp2 to sp4? The answer is yes. As a matter of fact, SP4 is required to be installed if you want to update the NAS Appliaance Version. Click here for more updates...

And here for addition info from MS... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;826236

Do I have to upgrade securepath first? What version are you currently at? At the very least, i would probably get the lastest Service park for your current version. If your at 3.x then I believe 3.1A SP2 is available.

What will break if I upgrade? Knowing Microsoft, probably everything... :D

Just kidding. I wouldn't expect anything to break, but you can never be too careful. Always have a full backup of your data and configuration before doing anything.

Re: upgrade nasb3000 to sp4

I currently have securepath manager 3.1

Should I upgrade to securepath 4.0c?

Should I upgrade securepath first and then the service pack?

Re: upgrade nasb3000 to sp4

Mike:

"Should I upgrade to securepath 4.0c?" The answer to this depends on your storage array. We wouldneed to know a bit more about your environment first before answering. If I had to give some answer, I would say going to the latest Service Pack for your existing version would be the very minimum upgrade.

"Should I upgrade securepath first and then the service pack?" If you need to upgrade Secure Path, I would probably perform that first, then Windows 2000 SP4.

I do not think there is a direct upgrade path from Secure Path 3.x to 4.x. Additionally, you would need to upgrade your Secure Path Manager as 3.x SPM will not work with SP4 agents.

Mike,

Below is a link to the NAS (b3000) service pack/secure path support matrix (see the Service Pack Support matrix). Please review this as well.
