x9000 backup performance & design

Hi All,

Would be interested in peoples experience with x9000 ndmp backup performance. Especially with small file sizes and direct connected tape drives.

Also is there a way to tape backup tiers with x9000? I am thinking about creating a tier for files that were modified a year or more ago and then running a backup on this tier only once every few months. The files that have been modified more recently are backed up every day.

Thoughts?

when taking a backup using ndmp, instead of using the file system directly you can use snapshot feature and then take the backup of the snapshot which is working good according to my knowledge on this product.
