2 brandnew DAT72 (external) drive ejects used and new tapes
Hi,
I have 2 brandnew Freecom DAT-72 drives that are actually models HPC7438A, using Yosemite Basic Backup on a Linux fileserver. My old drive (same model as the new ones) worked great for 5 years but started to eject old and new tapes with error messages "Please insert compatible media" and "Wrong media". The tapes I use are HP DAT-72 tapes. Since the drive was out of warranty I bought the same model and managed to get 2 correct backups done. After that, all tapes (used and new) got rejected again with the same errors. Using RMA service, I got another new drive and this one just ejects all tapes with same errors.
My question is: can anyone tell me what is going on? The reseller's (Freecom) support has tried to solve it but is left clueless and directs me to HP.
Thank you for any help or solution.
