4 gb dds dat tape drive & Surestore 4mm scsi-2 tape drive
We have hp e55 with a 4GB DDS DAT tape drive . We want to take this tape written to from the drive, and use it with an external HP
SureStore 4mm SCSI-2 tape drive.
The question is would the HP SureStore 4mm tape drive be able to read the
HP E55 server 4mm tape.
SureStore 4mm SCSI-2 tape drive.

Re: 4 gb dds dat tape drive & Surestore 4mm scsi-2 tape drive
Hi,
If the tape drive is product number C5683A,
(Surestore Dat 40 DDS4) then no it won't. This model tape drive will not read a tape below 120 Metre.

Re: 4 gb dds dat tape drive & Surestore 4mm scsi-2 tape drive
Hi, Penni; here's a link to a document that'll give you more info about tape compatibilities. According to what's written here (http://www.hp.com/cposupport/manual_set/lpg28863.pdf), a DDS-4 drive will at least read DDS tapes. DDS-2 and -3 tapes can be read and written. HTH.
