8GB HARDWARE ERROR
I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE ERROR OF BACKUP DEVICE REPORTED AN UNRECOVERABLE HARDWARD ERROR REF:05-12-23-00-40A0. THE ONLY THING WE DID DIFFERENT OF THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS IS ADD A NEW HARD DRIVE WITH A SWITCH BOX.THIS WAY I CAN MOVE BETWEEN BOTH HARD DRIVES. PLEASE DOES ANYBODY KNOW THAT THIS ERROR MEANS. PLEASE REPLY.

Felicia, I would guess that you added another hard drive so you could boot different operating systems. Are these IDE hard drives? My first suggestion is that you restore the system to the way it was and see if the tape drive works again. I suspect it will and you don't have a tape drive issue.

I did restore the system back to the way it was before we added the new hard drive with the switch box. But the same error keeps coming up, I also uninstalled and reinstalled the software and the system then told me that the tape drive did not pass the installation test.
