A question about SureStore tape library and VERITAS Netbackup
I have a backup system that use the VERITAS Netbackup software and a SureStore E20/700 tape library to backup a Oracle database. I find that there are some error information in syslog.log file of the backup server as :
Jan 6 13:12:37 zjbdcs01 tldd[2623]: Adding media ID 000724 to unmountable media list
Jan 6 13:12:37 zjbdcs01 tldd[2623]: TLD(0) drive 1 (device 0) is being DOWNED, status: Unable to open drive
Jan 6 13:12:37 zjbdcs01 tldd[2623]: Check integrity of the drive, drive path, and media
Jan 6 13:39:10 zjbdcs01 tldd[2623]: Removing media ID 000724 from unmountable media list
Jan 6 13:39:11 zjbdcs01 ltid[2193]: Request for media ID 000724 is being rejected because it is in a DOWN drive
But the drive status is ok when I check it by VERITAS Netbackup software and observing the hardware information of tape library control panel.
Have anybody can tell me about it , thank you!

Re: A question about SureStore tape library and VERITAS Netbackup
I do have experience with this setup (on NB 3.4) but it was fairly limited -- I'm not an expert. It sounds to me as though the tape is bad.
I'd suggest that you change out the tape with a brand new one, then try to reproduce the behavior. If it doesn't happen again, I'd say it was either the tape or an intermittent problem.
