Autoloader 1/8 Utrium 960 on Smart Array 6402/128: Not working, not allowed?

I've connected Autoloader 1/8 Utrium 960 to Smart Array 6402/128. on Win 2000. TapeTools doesn't see the device at all; and in properties of the SCSI adapter, I see "SCSI bus fault occurred on Storage Box box 0, , Port 1 of Array Controller in slot 2. This may result in a "downshift" in transfer rate for one or more hard drives on the bus."
There are no drives on the controller, only the tape drive. Should this work? If not, what SCSI controller should I be using? TIA

That controller will not work with this unit. This is the part number you can use for additional HBA.
