Autoloader and Ignite

I have an RP4440 with no internal tape.

To make system backup with Ignite we plan to use the DATA external device : an 1/8 LTO TAPE autoloader
Can I use an autoloader device to make IGNITE tape ? Will I be able to restore and boot on these device in case of failure ?

Re: Autoloader and Ignite

Hi lecomte,

you can use an Autoloader for Ignite Tapes, but you have to load a cartridge manually in the drive. Please check if the Drive is available in boot Admin├В┬┤s search... Then you can use ist (tried with MSL and 2/20)

Re: Autoloader and Ignite

If you load a tape manualy in the drive you can perfectly create a ignite.

You can also load a tape by command if you use

mc -p /dev/rac/cxtydz -s S1 -d D1

Re: Autoloader and Ignite

Hi there.
If you work with HP-UX, try the mc and mt commands to load, unmount and unload the cartridges from your Autoloader.
