BACKUP

I LOST MY OFFICE IN A FIRE. I HAVE BACKUP TAPES FROM A COLORADO BACKUP UNIT AND NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO RESTORE THE DATA.

I THINK IT'S TRAVAN BUT DON'T REMEMBER EXACTLY. HOW DO I FIGURE OUT WHAT TYPE OF TAPE I HAVE?

HOW DO I FIND A COMPATIBLE TAPE DRIVE?

WILL TAPEWARE SOFTWARE DO THE JOB?

I HAVE ACCESS TO A DRIVE BUT DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE IF IT'S COMPATIBLE. DO I RISK LOSING DATA BY INSERTING THE TAPE INTO A POTENTIALLY NON-COMPATIBLE DRIVE?

Re: BACKUP

I believe its HP Colorado II software that you want, but it depends upon how the tape was created. Try this link:

Regarding: DO I RISK LOSING DATA BY INSERTING THE TAPE INTO A POTENTIALLY NON-COMPATIBLE DRIVE?...

There should be a read only switch on the tape itself.

Re: BACKUP

About the risk of losing data, why don't you move the protection tab to write-protect.
