BACKUPS: error - fbackup(3205) unable to read volume header (2K)
I am able to backup using a msl2024 fc but I receive the above error.

The error message simply means that fbackup looked on the tape and found no volume header. This situation is normal for a tape which is being used for the first time by fbackup.
If you use this tape again, then you won't see this message but it will flash a message instead showing number of times the volume is used.
