Backup Exec I/O errors over FC
Our setup is as follows:
Compaq TL892 Tape Library (firmware: 05.25)
Compaq Storageworks Fibre Channel Tape Controller (firmware: 9913a, cannot
update to latest avaliable firmware 9913m due to problem via console and
xmodem)
Windows 2000 SP3 / BackupExec 9.0 SP1
Event Log Error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Backup Exec
Event Category: None
Event ID: 57665
Date: 28-May-03
Time: 4:12:25 PM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER1
Description:
Storage device "DLT 0" reported an error on a request to space to end of
data.
Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

I don't have this particular configuration, but have had this type of error.
When using Win2000 and any 3rd party backup software, make sure that the Removable Storage service is DISABLED and not just stopped. Even though NTBACKUP was actually written by Veritas it will cause I/O errors and CRC errors when using other software.

Thanks for your replies.
I will try and and see what happens but I am at the point of just giving up using this fibre channel tape controller and just go direct scsi and backup over ether.
