Backup Jobs Failing on Ultrium 215
Hello,
I am having a great amount of trouble getting my backup jobs to run on one of my Ultrium 215. I have two Ultrium 215's, one internal, one external. Both are running the same firmware;N27D/OEM9. Both are running the same tapes; C7971A. Both are backing up from the same NAS. We are running Veritas BE 9.1. The back up job running on the external fails almost every night. The external drive is quite a bit older than the internal, not sure how much(3 years?). I have run a new cleaning tape, and tried using brand new tapes, but keep getting the same result. Is it possible that the old tape drive is just dying? I know that eventually hardware does wear out. I would be very appreciative to any one who can help or has any ideas, and I will do whatever I can to try to make this easier on you. Thanks,
Rob
