(media=tape vrij#2 (aug) [s/n: ], EC=ILLEGAL COMMAND
it allways worked well until now!!

Is the media write protected?
Have you tried a new tape?
Did any configurations change like block size settings?
What type of tape drive/library are you using?

Run the device analysis test first, as it will check the drive logs for any reported problems. There is a drive assessment test you can also run which will test it. It's recommended to run that on a new or known good tape.
You can also generate a "support ticket" for the device and I could review the device error logs in detail.
