Backup of SQL with DPE 3.5 SP2

I have been successfully backing up SQl databases with the software, but the SQL log file for each database is not being reduced in size, in fact it is growing very large Have had to do a backup within SQL itself and then truncate the files. Doesn't DPE agent commit the transactions and then truncate the logfile.
