Backup very slow

Our Backup take about 4 hours, but with a new DLT tape driver the backup takes 11 hours. The DLT's firmware version was 1624 and now is 2255. I have Sap with Oracle and I use Sap's brbackup.

Re: Backup very slow

What OS, backup software and type of DLT are you using? I had a simular problem with a DLT 40/80 drive on NT 4.0, SP6a. I added a registry entry, per Computer Assoc., to increase the memory the software will use during the backup (HKLM\Software\Cheyene\Arcserve\CurrentVersion\Tapeengine\SHARED_MEMORY) Increased the shared memory from the default to 10 MB. Backup throughput went from 12-14MB per minute to 292 MB per minute. If your using Arcserve with NT, check out their web site for details.

Re: Backup very slow

Hi,
I have the same problem under Windows 2000. I checked several drivers and update the firmware to 2255. Only one hint i have. The performance became very slow when i install the Compaq Support for WIndows 2000. But unfortunatly I can't remove this drivers.
