Best SCSI card for Ultrium 230 in Surestore 5500 array?

Is there a best bet card for this?

We've had good luck with Adaptec 2940UW and the built-in Symbios controllers in LP2000R and LPr servers.

We tried an Adaptec 39160 card in both of the above servers and it just didn't work -- the drives were either not detected or if they were the system hung up and wouldn't start or run right.

Maybe we have a bad 39160? It's a great card because of the dual SCSI channels for slot-impaired rackmount boxes, but it just hasn't been usable with our Ultriums.

Hello,

That card is supposed to work for Ultrium drives.

Check whether the cards are bad. Check SCSI cables and termination. Check for SCSI ID conflicts. Put Ultrium drives in seperate SCSI chains.

The cabling and terminators are functional with the built-in Ultra3 controller in the LP2000r, so maybe I have a bad card or a weird card/drive/terminator combination.
