Better media for our tape drive?
we are using the following hardware:
HP Surestore Tape Autoloader 1/9 series
Product-ID: C7145
What Tape Media could we use do get the maximum storage capacity.
At the moment we use "Ultrium-1"-Tapes.
But they have only 200 GB capacity (compressed).
Is there a better way, better tapes?
The tape drive is really OK, good old HP quality.

Re: Better media for our tape drive?
as pointed above with this drive you are not able to use more space.
but you can swap you drive to ultrum2(400 GB compr.) or Ultrium3 (800GB compr.)
The benefit is that these drives can read the Ultrium1 Tapes you already have.

Re: Better media for our tape drive?
Thanks a lot.
We will work with Ultrium 1 tapes in the future again.
The tape drive is OK, no mistakes.
A new drive (LTO2 or LTO3) is too expensive at the moment.
We have 8 slots, so there's no problem.
Thanks and have a nice weekend.

The C7145 (1/9) autoloader only supports DLT8000 and Ultrium1 drives. That product was discontinued before Ultrium2 was released.
There are newer StorageWorks 1/8 autoloaders with Ultrium1, 2, and 3 drives. These are 2U rack mount (or table top) devices.
