Booting off a tape drive

Hello,
I been reading Veritas' IDR document, stating for disaster recovery we can boot off a tape drive. Does anyone have any experience with this?
How is it done with CPQ hardware?
Thank you,
Tony

Re: Booting off a tape drive

I found out this from CPQ Tech Support.
The 35/70 DLT does not support IDR - not as of this time. There is no firmware update to allow it to work.
When I looking into buying a tape drive what feature should look for to support IDR?

The 40/80 and several other types of tapes do support it (AITs DATs).

Typically - it'll be noted in the description of the drive. Most marketers know it's important to note that now...

Here are some that do:

The DLT 40/80 should be able to read your old backups while the AIT is a new technology.
