C1533A with XP Pro
I am trying to get my C1533A dds2 unit to work with XP Pro, the Remote storage service fails with:
Event ID: 168
Computer: VALE02
Description:
RSM cannot manage library Tape0. Failed to communicate with device or obtain device setup information.
I have downloaded Tape Tools and this does not find the unit and when I double click the adapter it failes with error 10. Device manager then loses the tape unit all together until I reboot.
Any ideas welcome
TIA
Paul M Tate
note the unit works ok on WIndows 2ks on my Proliant.

Re: C1533A with XP Pro
Hello,
Make sure you have TapeWare 6.3, that's the only supported one for XP.

Vince

Re: C1533A with XP Pro
Since troubleshooting utility cannot find the drive either, check does the SCSI HBA find it when you boot the server.
If it does, check your HBA drivers.
If it does, check your HBA drivers.

Re: C1533A with XP Pro
The adapter bios finds the tape unit, Windows XP finds the tape unit, the adapter is an Iwill Side-2936UW-E using XP's default Advansys 3550 drivers, there doesn't appear to be any later drivers.
I updated the tape unit bios via my Compaq Proliant, still no lucj with XP Pro.
