C1537A: Tape write protected

I'm using a C1537A Tape drive with DDS-90 DAT-Cassettes from Imation. Every now and then the tape drive recognizes a tape as write protected when it is not. Mostly removing and re-inserting solves the problem. What's wrong with this tape drive? Any suggestions?

Hello,

Try inserting HP tapes instead of Imation ones. If the same problem occur, maybe it's the misaligning of the head which is inserted in the write-protect hole. If not, use HP tapes. It is recommended anyway.
