I've connected an external DDS4 SUN on a HP9000 K380 and it was seen like a HP C5683A:

When I try to make a writing test on it, the tar command return the following message:

# tar -cvf /dev/diag/rmt/c4t4d0 /etc
a /etc/fstab 1 blocks
a /etc/mnttab 1 blocks
a /etc/.supported_bits 8 blocks
a /etc/group 1 blocks
a /etc/passwd 1 blocks
a /etc/magic 18 blocks
Tar: end of tape
tape hardware path 10/16/8.4.0.0: Offline during CLOSE. Rewind manually.
Tar: to continue, enter device/file name when ready or null string to quit.

It seems to say that it reached the end of the tape but it's impossible...
Is someone know what to do???

Which firmware drive has? Try using /dev/rmt/1m device file. Try HP LTT http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html

first how can I get the frimware of my drive?

Secondly I've already try to use /dev/rmt/1m but when I use it it says:

# tar -cvf /dev/rmt/1m /tmp
tar: cannot open /dev/rmt/1m
#

And finally I had download and install HP LTT but nothing new, what can I do with HP LTT?

Open LTT and select tape drive and then generate support ticket for it (it will have .ltt extension). Then zip and attach to your next reply

I try to open LTT but it doesn't work:
# ./hp_ltt
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't open shared library: /usr/lib/liby.2
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory
Abort(coredump)

Did you think that there's something wrong with OS? Patches, for example SCSI ones? Try disconnecting this drive off the server and running LTT - will it run?

No it doesn't, it shows the same message as before.
it says : Can't open shared library: /usr/lib/liby.2
and i search for /usr/lib/liby.2 and it doesn't exist but /usr/lib/liby.1 exist and is a link.
Why does he want to open a liby.2? because there is 2 tapes drives???
