COMPAQ AIT 35, LVD ejects the tapes when I set them in.

Whenever I insert a tape in the tape drive mentioned in the subject of this thread, it takes about four seconds and then the drive ejects the tape automaticly.

I am running Backup exec v8.

Hi,

what type of tape do you insert and is it by any chance write protected?

I use the tapes Compaq AIT 35 GB - And no, the tapes are set to "rec" and not "safe".

Do you use DLT III or DLT IV or what kind of tape media?

To be quite honest - I am not sure, does not say anything on the tape itself. Does it matter and is there any easy way to find out?

@Michael,

It is an AIT drive and not a DLT drive ;-) so neither DLTIII or DLTIV would fit on the drive.

Just check out the paper that is in the plastic cover of the tape to make sure that yuo are using the correct type of tapes.
