Can't connect to over Fibre Channel Switch
We're having problems connecting to a 35/70 DLT Library over Fibre Channel.
We are using a Compaq StorageWorks FC-AL Switch 8 and a Compaq Fibre Channel Tape Controller II.
The Fibre Channel Diags in SmartStart show that we can see the Tape Controller and the Tape Controller says it can see the DLT Library. However when we go into the SCSI Devices in Control Panel, we can't see the DLT Drives or Loader, so ARCserve 2000 can't see it ether.
If we use a StorageWorks Hub in place of the Switch everything is o.k.
Anybody got any idea where the problem might be ?
Regards Carl

Re: Can't connect to over Fibre Channel Switch
Did you change the SCSI IDs of the tape drives to ID2 and ID3? I take it you have the Fiber SCSI card in your server?
I do not believe the server needs to see the cards. Do you have the software loaded for the Fiber card, so that the server can see the tape devices?
Hope this helps...Laurie

Re: Can't connect to over Fibre Channel Switch
I had the same problem. Had to flash the Fibre Tape Controller II to firm ware c9913a, install the DDT Mini library 2000 drivers, and assign the SCSI Is properly. The Library has a SCSI IS of 1, Drive one has a SCSI ID of 2, and the Drive two has a SCSI ID of 3. ARCserveIT for Windows 2000 Enterprise Addition was then able to see changer. Hope this helps Tim
